introduction
Breathing
the cool, fresh air throughout this train journey is remarkable.
Between Hatton and Haputale, passengers may sense the flash
of a mist and its cold embrace. The Green terrain of tea plantations
makes the most charming scene. Beyond the tea estates one
may witness the panoramic scenes of strips of mountain ranges
coloured different shades of blue, stretching away to infinity.
The Horton Plains and other Nature reserves are the origin
of pure fountains. The young river takes the shape of a waterfall
crashing to stones where located hundreds of feet below. Passengers
on the Udarata Menike may witness several waterfalls such
as the breathtaking St. Claire.
Udarata Manike TV programme will explore the most valued and
attractive historical legends from the Kandyan period and
some tragic incidents as well. Uthuwan Kande Sura Sardiel,
Sri Wicrama Rajasinghe the last king of Sri Lankan dynasty
and the heroic young son of Ehalepola Nilame– Madduma Bandara
are some of prominent characters in the history to be explored
in this programme.
The Peradeniya
University, the most charming symbol of university education
will be visited. Many acclaimed artistic works such as songs,
Novels and stage dramas originated from Peradeniya Unversity.
At the time that Peradeniya was at its peak there was popular
intellectual debate on various theme. Architecturally, Peradeniya
University is remarkable and fascinating. These all important
and impressive facts will elaborates in the “Udarata Menike”
Programme
Shooting Udarata Menike with innovative technology
Some innovative
technological systems were used to capture this journey. The
middle portion of the Journey, beyond Gampola to Idalgashinna
was shot using a ‘heli cam’ (a camera mounted on a helicopter
and operated by remote control). We also scheduled 3 cameras
for capturing the journey by train and the surrounding beauty
of the railway line.
